About Belfast Bow Company
Belfast Bow Company makes ties, bow ties, pocket squares and men’s accessories by hand in Dromore, County Down. Founded in 2014, we set out to make neckwear in a way that has become increasingly uncommon: slowly, in small quantities and from fabrics chosen as much for their provenance and character as their appearance.
Irish linen sits at the heart of the collection, reflecting the long association between linen and this part of Northern Ireland. Alongside it, we work with Liberty Tana Lawn, heritage tweeds, county tartans and other carefully selected natural fabrics. Every tie we make contains Irish linen, whether as the outer cloth or as part of its construction.
Our pieces are cut and made in our own workshop by a small team of skilled makers. A single tie is constructed from eleven pattern pieces and finished with around 115 hand-sewn stitches. It is a slower way of working, but one that allows us to pay attention to balance, finish and the details that determine how a tie will knot, drape and wear over time.
We make largely to order, work in small batches and make use of our offcuts wherever we can. There is little interest here in producing more for the sake of it. Our aim is much simpler: to make distinctive, beautifully constructed accessories from exceptional fabrics, pieces with provenance, character and a reason to be kept.
We don’t want to make the most ties. We want to make ties worth keeping.
