WAWWA

WAWWA is a sustainable clothing brand based in Manchester, founded in 2015 by brothers Sean and Andrew. The name carries a single guiding principle: people and the planet come before profits. It's a standard applied to every decision the business makes, from the factories they choose to the materials they specify, and it shapes what WAWWA is willing to produce as much as what it isn't. The brand's move into manufacturing began in 2020, when it started producing face masks during the Covid pandemic — a pivot that gave the team their first direct experience of running production themselves. They expanded the WAWWA factory in Manchester in 2022, and the majority of the range is now made there, in a space the brand operates and is directly accountable for. Designing, sampling and producing under one roof gives them full control over quality and process, and a genuinely transparent supply chain from start to finish. For the handful of styles not made in-house, WAWWA works with a small number of carefully selected UK partner factories that share the same commitments. Everyone working in the WAWWA factory is paid at least the real Living Wage. The clothing itself is built to last rather than to follow a trend. The range spans timeless everyday styles alongside a growing women's-specific collection, all cut for durability and designed to be worn hard. WAWWA operates on a pre-order model, producing only what has been committed to, which means no overruns, no excess stock and no waste. Ranges are kept tight and seasonal drops considered, with nothing going into production without a reason to exist. The brand is also building a repair and retention scheme so the garments it makes stay in use rather than ending up in landfill. Materials are chosen for minimal environmental impact and maximum lifespan. Organic cotton uses around 70% less water than conventional cotton and is grown without pesticides, protecting soil, water and the farmers who grow it. Dry waxed organic cotton can be re-proofed again and again to keep performing for years, and is fully biodegradable. Organic ripstop cotton adds tear resistance without compromising on credentials. Buttons are corozo nut, harvested from the rainforest floor in Ecuador in a way that supports local livelihoods and helps protect the forest. Zips are YKK Natulon, made from recycled plastic bottles, and recycled PET is spun into polyester where function demands it. As the brand puts it, they don't use anything they can't account for.
