Like a lot of new businesses in the beginning you have to call upon family to help. Look who came to help out in the workshop! We were recently visited by the youngest generation in the family, Matilda (3) and Oliver (18 months)! Keen to learn, they took no time at all in checking that everything was running smoothly. Matilda put herself in charge of quality control making sure all the stitching was neat. Oliver was busy assessing that the threads were up for the job. They both checked the stock levels in the leather room, and discussed future plans! We think their thorough approach will stand them in very good stead for the future and we will welcome them back to fully test their machining skills when their feet can reach the pedals!

We searched for a long time to find the perfect vegan alternative for our straps. The cork we use is very strong, supple and has a beautiful finish. It comes from centuries old forests in Portugal where cork harvesting is a skill passed down through families and supports a village community. Cork is extremely sustainable - the bark is peeled away and then the cork is carefully extracted by highly skilled harvesters. The trees are in no way damaged, the cork is naturally renewable and grows back after nine years. Read here why it's so important to support the cork industry.

We often sell aprons in pairs…his and hers, hers and hers, his and his! How romantic to share a passion or time spent cooking your favourite meal together. Or what a fantastic gift as a wedding present. Our aprons are also perfect for traditional wedding anniversary gifts: - 2 years - Cotton is an interwoven material that reflects how marriage brings a couple closer together. This material is also flexible but strong and symbolises that, after two years of marriage, the couple have adapted to each other and become stronger for it. - 3 years – Leather for its durable, flexible and warming properties. These characteristics are said to represent this stage of marriage, symbolising the strength and safety married couples give to each other. Here is daughter Amber and son-in-law Patrick at a photo call we did at Tanner’s Wine Cellar in Shrewsbury. So cute!
