Hurdwick Handmade Bag Company

I design and make leather bags and accessories from my workshop in Tavistock, Dartmoor, Devon. My workshop is on the site of the old Hurdwick stone quarry from which much of the centre of Tavistock was built - hence the names of my bags which are stone quarrying terms to reflect my workshop location! Much of my work is made from cowhide - metallic gold splash, traditional coloured hides and leopard print are some of the leathers I use to create clutches, totes, crossbody bags and smaller accessories, beautifully made with eye catching linings, stylish hardware and finished with attention to detail. I also make giant canvas and leather multi purpose tote bags. All my products are made one at a time to create a unique, thoughtful slow-fashion purchase. I buy the leather and some cowhides from a family firm in Somerset, and others from another family business in Twickenham, London - the leathers and cowhides are ethically sourced and are a by product of the food industry.
