New & Lingwood is a British menswear brand founded in 1865 by Elizabeth New and Samuel Lingwood. The company originally started as a small hosiery shop located in Eton, a town near Windsor Castle. However, the brand's reputation for quality craftsmanship quickly spread, and they soon began offering bespoke tailoring services and luxury menswear.
New & Lingwood's bespoke tailoring gained a following among notable figures, including members of the royal family and prominent politicians. The brand also dressed famous writers such as Oscar Wilde and Rudyard Kipling, as well as influential figures like Winston Churchill and James Bond author Ian Fleming.
Over the years, New & Lingwood expanded its offerings to include a wide range of high-end clothing, shoes, and accessories for the discerning gentleman. They opened a flagship store on Jermyn Street in London's Mayfair district, which remains their main retail location to this day.
In 2012, New & Lingwood was acquired by the luxury menswear brand, Jermyn Street Design, and the two brands have since been merged under the name, New & Lingwood Limited. The brand continues to be known for its exceptional quality and craftsmanship, catering to the sartorial needs of gentlemen around the world.
