Palava is an independent, UK-owned clothing brand known for its vibrant and characterful designs. The brand is led by Bryony Richardson, who serves as both owner and designer, and is passionate about creating clothing that celebrates the creativity and individuality of women who refuse to fade into the background. Every piece in Palava’s collections is designed to be lived in and loved for years, with a focus on comfort, practicality, and timeless style.
The heart of Palava’s identity lies in its unique, hand-illustrated prints, each of which tells a story and is created by the small team in their London studio. Bryony herself illustrates, paints, or watercolours each print, ensuring that every collection is distinct and full of personality. The designs are inspired by nostalgia, drawing from memories of favourite books, toys, and adventures, as well as the joy found in well-loved, long-lasting clothing. Palava’s commitment to longevity and practicality is reflected in thoughtful details such as deep pockets and classic silhouettes that stand the test of time.
Palava’s production process is rooted in transparency and care. The brand works with just three small companies, including a family-run factory on the outskirts of London, with whom they have collaborated for over eight years. Their heritage-style wool knitwear is made by a manufacturer in Mansfield, specialising in British wool, while fabrics and knitwear are sourced and produced in Turkey with the help of their trusted partner Guray, with whom they have worked for more than seven years.
Sustainability is central to Palava’s ethos. The brand uses natural fibres for all fabrics and opts for Corozo nut buttons on their dresses. By producing as close to home as possible, Palava minimises its carbon footprint and maintains a transparent supply chain. The brand acknowledges there is always more to learn and strives to make each step of the process as ethical and sustainable as possible.
Palava’s studio and office are located at 98 Caledonian Road, London, N1 9DN, where customers are welcome to visit. The brand’s approach is rooted in warmth, creativity, and a belief that life should never be dull.
