Noble & Wylie is a British footwear brand based in Sheffield, dedicated to creating sustainable footwear for the ethically conscious consumer. The brand is founded and led by Kenneth, a skilled shoemaker with a strong environmental conscience and a deep commitment to thoughtful design. His workshop reflects his personal ethics, focusing on crafting beautiful, desirable footwear from high-quality materials that are fully repairable and made to last. Kenneth’s journey in fashion began with a degree in Fashion Design from Edinburgh College of Art. Over the past two decades, he has specialised in garment and product development, consistently sourcing British and Irish materials and supporting local manufacturing. His career has been shaped by a response to the culture of consumerism and waste within the fashion industry, leading to a lasting commitment to longevity, quality materials, and repairability. In 2016, Kenneth began working with a well-established Sheffield shoemaker, where he saw firsthand the enduring value of well-made shoes. Customers frequently returned after ten or fifteen years to have their footwear resoled and reconditioned, demonstrating the satisfaction and loyalty inspired by true craftsmanship. This workshop operated under the long-standing name Guat Shoes, founded in 1978. Impressed by its legacy, Kenneth took over the business in 2017, continuing its tradition of skilled shoemaking and renaming it Noble & Wylie as he ushered it into a new chapter. Noble & Wylie is rooted in nearly 50 years of thoughtful design and artisanal craftsmanship. Every pair of shoes is crafted by hand using traditional methods, with a particular focus on stitchdown construction. Designs are refined for a modern utilitarian aesthetic, subtly referencing the historic vintage styles that shaped the workshop’s heritage. A strong emphasis on natural fit ensures comfort, longevity, and timeless functionality for every customer. Through their dedication to sustainability, repairability, and local craftsmanship, Noble & Wylie continues to uphold—and evolve—the values that have defined the workshop since 1978.
