About Izzy Lane
Izzy Lane is a pioneering ethical British fashion brand, celebrated for its unique approach to animal welfare and sustainable textiles. They created Izzy Lane with a clear mission: to rescue sheep from slaughter and give them a voice in the fashion industry. Their story began when they rescued 700 sheep from the abattoir—ewes that had miscarried or missed a pregnancy, male lambs for being male, ewes considered too old, and rams deemed ‘spent’. These animals were paid for at market prices and allowed to live out their natural lives in the peace and tranquility of the Yorkshire Dales. Transforming the wool from these rescued sheep into beautiful clothing became a way to fund their care, while also supporting the struggling British textile industry. At a time when the industry was on its knees, Izzy Lane managed to piece together a chain of processors, finding the last of 52 worsted spinners in Calderdale and the final remaining button maker in Birmingham, now a working museum. Their commitment to traceability and ethical sourcing set a new standard, making Izzy Lane the first ever slaughter-free wool brand. Beyond creating a distinctive fashion label, Izzy Lane has become a powerful platform for animal rights awareness and campaigning. Their efforts have been recognised with multiple RSPCA Awards, New Designer of the Year at the RE Awards—the world’s first ethical fashion awards—and they were finalists in the Observer Awards, the Daily Mirror Animal Heroes Awards, and the Global Sustainable Luxury Awards. Izzy Lane has received extensive national and international press coverage and has been featured in two series of ITV’s The Dales and other BBC TV and radio shows. Their collections have been exhibited at London Fashion Week and in cities including Paris, Milan, Berlin, and New York, as well as in a catwalk for the late Queen. A collaboration with Top Shop saw their slaughter-free wool coats displayed in the vitrines of Oxford Street. Izzy Lane continues to prove that sheep can exist without being eaten, championing ethical fashion and animal welfare in every aspect of their work.
